Christie Whitman talks Nuclear Power

by: Jason Springer

Mon Jun 01, 2009 at 01:30:00 PM EDT

This past Friday morning, Former NJ Governor and EPA Administrator Christie Whitman joined the Morning Joe crew for a discussion about Nuclear Energy and whether to build or not to build. They got the disclaimer that she is a lobbyist working with the Nuclear Industry and gets paid for the work right up front, but then had a discussion about the history and future of nuclear energy as a power source. Then they went on to talk about some of the potential benefits and drawbacks of nuclear power:

I don't think there is going to be one solution that solves our energy problem and that nuclear should be considered as a possible piece of the puzzle. Obviously the up front costs and time to build are prohibitive, but it seems like we will encounter those problems with many forms of new energy. What are your opinions on nuclear energy and do you think it should be a part of our country's long term plan.

No Need For Nukes: Whitman Is For Sale... (0.00 / 0)
...to the highest bidder.

We can conserve our way to using far less energy that we do now, and when you add to the mix ubiquitous use of solar, wind and other alternatives....I dare say that within 20 years we could be using half the amount of electricity we do now and generating none of it with fossil fuels.

Of course that would require, what Jimmy Carter called, "The moral equivalent of war".  But it is possible.   Such an America would have ZERO need for any fuel imports and virtually all cars would be all electric.   There woulod still be some diesel trucks here and there; but almost all freight transport could be done cheaper and cleaner by rail.

In the process of truly greening America our whole quality of life would improve as people would live longer due to the cleaner environment and so many fewer cancers.

The economy wold boom as so many people would be employed in the transformation to a clean way of living.

Whitman selling herself out to the nuclear industry is no surprise.  She's sold out the state in a thousand different ways with her borrow and spend policies.

And don't get me started on her atrocious actions around 9-11.
