First brother Todd tried to call in to answer their questions off air, but the Jersey guys wanted none of that. Then Chris called in toward the end of the show to talk about campaign advisor John Inglesino and allegations whether he was hired by Republican Sen. Joe Pennacchio in order to earn state pension credits.
From the second Christie got on the line, the Jersey Guys went after him and hard. Christie tried to make some jokes and work in some talking points, but the host wanted to have none of it and said Christie needs to hold himself to his own word:
We want to hold you to the standards that you told us you would hold other people to. Instead of being part of the solution, you're starting to sound more like the problem.
Inglesino co-hosted a $500-a-plate fundraiser for Christie a week after the candidate said he'd reject all future campaign donations from lawyers to whom he awarded no-bid contracts as U.S. attorney. Inglesino's law firm earned $3 million after Christie appointed it to monitor an out-of-court corporate fraud settlement. He, his law partners and their wives gave Christie's campaign the maximum allowable donations.

Yes, it's true that Christie lost votes there, but not so much because of the substance of the issue; but because he didn't rhetorically smack this "Jersey Guy" into kingdom come. If he can't handle a shock jocks crude attacks how the hell can he handle being governor of New Jersey.
The issue is a valid one. Pension patronage for part time party hacks is bullshit....and yes it does look bad that this guy is a "volunteer" for Christie while Christie is adopting the position that he's going to end that particular practice.....but the fact remains that it's a common practice (evidently) and none of the other candidates has yet to commit to ending it.
The "volunteer" should "voluntarily" resign from his paid PT gig and choose to stay on with the campaign......that would be the honorable thing to do....not likely eh?
There are so very many abuses of the pension system, this is small potatoes relatively speaking. It wouldn't surprise me if 20% of what is spent on pensions is in some manner or other "legally" scammed.
Corzine is very lucky to be running against this character, who knows maybe the Guv will hit the jackpot and Lonegan will sneak in! lol
PS
If Corzine were to adopt my strategy of going all out progressive and really mean it and then go on a show with these guys and simply be effin straight with them...he would kick ass galore in November and save himself lots of cash.
Of course he would them have to keep on kicking ass in the statehouse as a followup.
New Jersey has few problems that clean honest progressive and efficient governance couldn't solve.

What do you think of NYT analysis?
I thought it interesting that Merkt was in a photo of the GOP debate, but not mentioned in the article.
More of these reporters should read Blue Jersey.
I wonder how progressives will feel if Lonegan should win the primary, or make the race so close, that he and his reactionary followers achieve greater credibility and legitimacy as a viable political force in New Jersey politics.
I've stated before that the real battle between progressives and reactionaries is taking place right now within the GOP. I realize that some partisan Democrats would like to see Lonegan win because they perceive he is a weaker candidate. Yet, if Lonegan can score what may be the biggest political upset in New Jersey history, anything is possible and he and his supporters should not be taken so lightly.
Even if Lonegan loses there is danger for progressives if he makes it a close race. There are alot of moderate Republican legislators who may feel the need to shift to the right, especially on social issues, if Lonegan demonstrates significant strength in their districts.
I've said it before, but be careful what you wish for. http://christiegonewild.blogsp...
As far as I can tell from the debates, the race is about economic views much more than any social issues.
I have to think of a witty signature about Frank LoBiondo
You have an issue with Lonegan you aren't discussing here in full. Fine. Who cares? But this weird concern that somehow BlueJersey is enabling Steve Lonegan's candidacy is just tin-foil hattery at its best. Name ONE partisan Democrat who has supported Lonegan in any way other than tongue in cheek. Thankfully this will be over tomorrow. I've registered Republican and will be gleefully casting my vote for ...
