Debate Tie FAIL

by: Jason Springer

From the what were they thinking department of clothing, can someone explain this Tie FAIL by Steve Lonegan: ( I grabbed a screen shot from NJN last night)

lonegan-tie-fail

Vincent commented in the live blogging about how it was giving him a headache. Did someone steal Lonegan's 1st tie choice as a practical joke and leave just that one in the closet?

Loser tie (2.50 / 2)
It's funny, because I thought Lonegan distinguished himself in the debate. In fact, I think he probably won it.

But this is such a loser tie. I'm sorry, but anybody here could have picked out a more compelling political tie. Blue. Or red. Solid color, or subtle design. Quality, but not designer. This isn't rocket science.

He still won the debate.

It's not a particularly snappy signature, but here's what I think we need in the next NJ Democratic State Chair.

Can you explain? (0.00 / 0)
Can you go into more detail on what you think makes a goodpolitical tie and why, as opposed to a good tie in other circumstances?

And is a good tie for a televised debate dfferent from a good tie for a politican's other activities?

Frivolity, neckwear (0.00 / 0)
First, just want to make sure you know this is a frivolous conversation. For fun. Yes? Just checking.

The tie was a distracting pattern. Too much white, for starters, and of the stripes, there were simply too many and too thin.

A good debate tie is solid color or subtle design, not too light (on a white fella), something that leads the eye right up to the business end of the face, and doesn't keep you staring at it in wonder.

Having said that, I still think the guy was more relaxed and made more complete arguments for what he was advocating. Tie or no tie.

It's not a particularly snappy signature, but here's what I think we need in the next NJ Democratic State Chair.

No, I'm clueless (0.00 / 0)
Well, I knew it wasn't the height of seriousness, but I guess it was more ephemeral than I was assuming.

And yes, realy think stripes are bad on TV, no matter what article of clothing.

Yes, he should have.... (0.00 / 0)
...worn a Rush Limbaugh tie. :-p
