Beck, O'Scanlon & Cassagrande to hold teabagging parties

by: Jason Springer

Sat Apr 11, 2009 at 12:43:13 PM EDT

Apparently members of Congress have been tea bagged for weeks, as conservatives have been mailing teabags to their Congressional offices. But now the right is ready to step it up a level, because nothing says making a difference like tea bagging parties.

Rachel Maddow and Anna Marie Cox actually managed to say teabagging 44 times in this segment discussing the parties across the country:

Here is a list of NJ teabag parties. In Piscataway, they will be teabagging in Johnson Park.  Or you could teabag in Hackensack. Beck O'Scanlon and Cassagrande will teabag at a party they host in Freehold Twp.

Will you be teabagging on April 15?

Isn't anyone else (0.00 / 0)
reminded of grinchy old white men who reuse their teabags?  The Republicans are just using the same old tired arguments for fixing the economy as they always have.  But, like stale old, twice used tea bags, they make watered down stuff that isn't very appealing....

The teabag analogy perfectly fits their politics.  The really funny part about these teabag parties is that, what made the colonists mad was that the price - tax and all was LOWER than tea bought in the colonies.  THAT is what infuriated them. That cheap (but taxed) tea was being unloaded in the Colonies and by buying it they would in a sense be condoning the tax.

Jeez, Republicans and a working knowledge of American history certainly don't go together.  The colonists were objecting to CHEAP tea - Walmart-priced tea - if you want a comparison.

One Vote.  Yours.  It really does matter.

It's a Monty Python sketch come to life. :)

...I won't  stop him.  although i am a little bummed that vince polestina won't be there because if i got first pick on the  NJGOP teabag lotto, i would definitely most prefer Vince's.

Catch phrases (0.00 / 0)
It sure is funny to hear the right talking about teabagging, but it's also interesting in a way - I was just listening to an episode of The Joan Kenley Show (progressive Bay Area podcast) called The Media: What's True, What's Not that addressed how the right-wing corporate media will use catch phrases (like "socialism") and single-line branding to manipulate the information we hear.  After getting in touch with all the ways that's worked for them, it's kinda nice to see this entry about a way it clearly is working against them!
