Bloomberg and Healy: Perfect together

by: Jason Springer

Mon Apr 06, 2009 at 06:26:55 PM EDT

From Wally at PolitickerNJ:
New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg will host a $1,000-per-person fundraiser at his home this month in support of the re-election campaign of Jersey City Mayor Jerramiah Healy.  That creates the possibility that Healy, the Hudson County Democratic Chairman, will back Bloomberg for re-election and not the Democratic mayoral nominee.  There is no word if Healy will host a similar fundraiser for Bloomberg at his Jersey City residence.

The campaign is seeking a $23,400 commitment to serve as General Chair of the event, $10,000 for Co-Chair, $7,200 for Vice-Chair, and $2,600 for finance committee member.

$23,400 to chair a night with Mayor Healy? Anyone else thinking Cuba Gooding Jr. and Tom Cruise yelling "Show me the Money"?

Bloomberg and Jersey City (0.00 / 0)
I had a chance to meet Michael Bloomberg a couple of years ago at the DNC meeting in Chicago, when he was pitching the Big Apple to host the 2008 DNC Convention. Good appletoonies! Denver won, but he threw the best party! We did get a chance to chat and he mentioned that his mother graduated from my alma mater, Dickinson HS in Jersey City!

I feel for Bill Thompson who has done a very commendable job as Comptroller and is very qualified to be mayor ... but,  so many have bailed on him.  A popular multi-billionaire who is very willing to spend is just too much!

Several months ago some of our NJ Stonewall members in Hudson County hosted a fundraiser for NYC Council Speaker Christine Quinn  who was planning on running for Mayor before they changed the term limits law. I was impressed by the number of regional and bi-state issues that were addressed.
