Blast from the Past: Quote of the Day Long Past

by: Thurman Hart

Mon Jan 26, 2009 at 01:15:00 PM EST

Just to show how far Joan Quigley has gone to reinvent herself as a voting obstructionist, I dug up this gem from way back in June, 2008:
"Choosing who to vote for can be a confusing and stressful process; casting a ballot shouldn't be," said Quigley (D-Hudson), chairwoman of the Assembly State Government Committee.

Um.  Isn't "making sure your ballot is counted" part of "casting a ballot"?  If it isn't; then what's the point of voting anyway?

It's confusing why (0.00 / 0)
someone who could lose their legislative seat by one vote isn't concerned that there's no way to recount the vote. There's also the proprietary code issue. Why is it necessary to have the votes counted by a secret code? We're not talking rocket science or national defense secrets here. If the method for counting votes remains unknown there's no point in casting ballots for public office. The current system is an endorsement for anarchy.
Maybe a net/grass roots effort to unseat people in favor of secret vote counting and unverified voting is a reasonable goal.

Restore democracy and the Constitution for which it stands.
