New Jersey for Democracy – the statewide DFA coalition group – asked its members to vote on who they thought would be the best choice for Governor Corzine to appoint to the Senate. The choices included the most-discussed names – Rep. Frank Pallone, Rep. Bob Menendez and Rep. Rob Andrews – as well as Rep. Rush Holt, Governor Richard Codey, State Sen. Loretta Weinberg, State Sen. Nia Gill and Other.
The poll ran for 1 week, and with 872 votes cast, Codey’s staggering popularity revealed itself again as he garnered 253 votes. The top vote getters not named Codey are Congressmen Holt and Pallone. Holt came in second with 225 votes, and Pallone came in third with 139 votes. No other choice reached 100 votes (although Bruce Springsteen received 4 write-in votes). The NJ4D poll filtered against “freeping” – only one vote could be cast per ISP address. So, the results should portray a more accurate snapshot of the preferences of NJ’s progressive voters. True?
