Today, Congressman Andy Kim led a roundtable discussion on the scourge of gun violence with members of Moms Demand Action and with survivors of gun violence. While the House of Representatives has already passed some small steps to help alleviate the problem (HR 8), the bill is being held up in the Senate by the National Rifle Association.
While the group supports current and additional legislation, they also pointed out that even with the unnecessary loss of life, there are other victims – families and friends of those who are shot and children who are traumatized by lockdown drills and other band-aid approaches to this problem.
This video starts with an introduction by Congressman Kim followed by remarks from victims and Moms Demand Action members. The congressman’s closing summary starts at the 12:54 mark.
