First off, just a quick shout-out to Rep. Bonnie Watson Coleman for recognizing Blue Jersey’s contribution to keeping people informed. So nice of her.
Get On the Bus (if you can): Last night, hundreds of NJ activists joined a call with Sen. Cory Booker & Rep. Bonnie Watson Coleman, to plan a rapid-response event for tomorrow (Thursday) – the #CancelKavanaugh march & rally in D.C. Last week was a real challenge for a lot of people, including those ‘triggered’ to their own incidents of sexual assault. We watched hours of credible testimony from California professor Dr. Christine Blasey Ford, followed by a stunning display of entitlement from a belligerent and aggressive Kavanaugh, which btw is exactly what his friends say he used to be like when he was shit-faced drunk.
Direct action is needed now. We know that works. We saw two women confront Sen. Jeff Flake in an elevator, and saw him call for delay and an FBI investigation right after that. New Jersey’s going to go stand on the front lines, and show up both at the Senate, and at the United States Supreme Court.
It’s short notice, and a work day for most but this is an all-points-bulletin and people are being asked to make the sacrifice if they can. Extraordinary measures are being made to make that easy as possible for us, including free travel for those who need it, thanks to sponsors in ally Labor.
Cory Booker said he’s suspicious of Mitch McConnell’s announcement he plans to ‘wrap up quickly’ Kavanaugh’s confirmation process, with a vote he said would take place by the end of this week. He’s right.
