New Jersey Organizing Project, founded by survivors of Superstorm Sandy and dedicated to fighting for the people of South Jersey & the Shore, is announcing their first annual convention next month, and releasing speaker bios for the day.
NJOP is a group of people organized to help one another, as this region comes back – too slowly – from the devastation of the 2012 Atlantic hurricane. We’re at year 6 now, and from the immediacy of need including people living in their cars, a loss of a family business, mold growing in flooded homes, they’re now also focusing on focus on how protecting programs like Medicaid and Medicare while we expand access to quality affordable care in our communities – particularly with efforts to address the opioid crisis. And as we approach Sandy’s 6th anniversary, families are struggling with clawbacks or to get enough funds to even start rebuilding.
