My House rep Leonard Lance welcomed a local preacher from NJ’s 7th congressional district – Fr. Gunn of St. Andrew’s of New Providence – to to the Capitol to perform the House of Representatives morning prayer. But all the prayer in the world won’t cleanse Rep. Lance or any other politician either currently wielding, or running to get, federal power, if that power is used to stand behind President Trump as he needlessly separates children from their parents.
Nothing wrong with praying, though I’m at a loss why it’s part of our government’s daily activities. But there’s a lot wrong with acting pious when the way you wield your actual real-world power is so questionable.
