Mikie Sherrill, former Navy pilot and federal prosecutor, has DCCC Red to Blue, endorsements that stretch from Carpenters to Gabby Giffords, plus nods from plenty of North Jersey Democratic heavyweights, and all 4 county Dem chairs in the district. Plus she’s got about $2,350,000 to Tamara Harris’ $581k (both via last filing). That’s a strong advantage.
Now, in a 30-second ad called “Nothing,” Tamara Harris is hitting the frontrunner on contributions Mikie Sherrill has taken in from individuals employed at Kirkland & Ellis, which handled the Toys R Us bankruptcy. Kirkland is the world’s largest law firm by revenue. The voice over begins, “Congress already works for the biggest corporate special interests. Mikie Sherrill will change nothing.” The ad goes on to say that Sherrill took “20 grand” (actually $18,520) from corporate lawyers, as employees by the thousands lost their jobs at Christmas and Toys R Us execs got big bonuses. The ad ends with bio info on Harris, and a promise she will not take corporate PAC contributions.
Below, the ad, and how to reach both candidates for yourself. There are 4 comments under the ad at YouTube, all negative.
