If you’ve never before attended one of these, I’m here to flag this for you. Eagleton’s fizzy and gossipy, yet also thoughtful and substantial convos, conducted sometimes even as close votes are still being tallied, are a worthwhile cap to a cycle of your hard work, advocacy and late nights behind the candidate of your choice. Get to this, you won’t be sorry. Get to this especially if the 2018 midterms, and the debacle of 2016 are your first experience with politics at this level.
You new people writing postcards to your neighbors, flooding volunteer meetings, standing out in the rain to remind your congressman you will fight for your healthcare, registering total strangers to vote for the first time in your life … you people are defining this election, and you should be in the room when it’s analyzed. I say that with a ton of love.
