In a continued effort to make Leonard Lance appear the moderate after almost a decade of voting like a right winger, Paul Ryan and the GOP leadership has given him permission to vote against the tax bill, forgiven him speaking out against Trump’s worst nonsense, and now put him in charge of the ethics investigation into a Republican colleague’s sexual harassment of staffers.
Rep. Leonard Lance (R-N.J.) will serve as the panel’s chairman and Rep. Anthony Brown (D-Md.) has been tapped to serve as its ranking member, according to a statement released by the Ethics Committee’s top lawmakers.
Now it certainly is nice that two men to lead an investigation into a man who has repeatedly been accused of sexual harassment (and today announced he will not run for reelection but will stay in the House), but they nicely added two women to be subservient on the committee.
Two other lawmakers, Reps. Ann Wagner (R-Mo.) and Suzanne Bonamici (D-Ore.), will also sit on the investigative panel.
What’s even better is that only Brown is actually on the ethics committee. The others have no role in ethics investigations.
Probably because they really don’t need much of an investigation given that this is the guy we’re talking about:
