There’s a lot of post-mortem analysis going on after last week’s election. Much of it falls in the misleading or ridiculous, or frivolous columns. This is one of the frivolous ones:
Based on the published data so far, in New Jersey’s Third Congressional District, the winner was incumbent multimillionaire, Tom MacArthur. He spent about $9.03 for each vote. The loser, Frederick John Lavergne spent less than one-half cent per vote.
(The fact that LaVergne only reported raising $600 vs. TMac’s $1.6 million should go unnoticed).
TMac got a bargain, though, spending only about one-third as much money as he did two years ago, when he self-funded his campaign.
