As the country reels from the back-to-back shootings of Alton Sterling and Philando Castile, the Republican-led Congress stuck to its priorities today by bringing in FBI Director James Comey to testify in front of the House Oversight Committee to explain why no criminal charges are being brought against Hillary Clinton over her use of personal email while she was Secretary of State.
But Congresswoman Bonnie Watson Coleman, D-NJ, wasn’t having any of it. She stayed on point.
From her Facebook page:
I decided to redirect [Comey’s] time to where it’s needed. I wanted to know what the FBI is doing, and what more could the FBI be doing, to address these cases of extreme and unnecessary violence perpetrated by local police forces. I think it’s important that we say their names, so from Tamir Rice, to Eric Garner, to Alton Sterling, to John Crawford III, to Michael Brown, to Walter Scott, to Sandra Bland deaths by police or in police custody are happening at an alarming rate across the country.
Good on ya’, Congresswoman.
