Yo, like what’s up NJ Supreme Court, Chris Christie and Legislators?

Hey yo, NJ Supreme Court, your Pen/Ben ruling is overdue. Or as William Butler Yeats might have said more insightfully:

“Turning and turning in the widening gyre

Things fall apart; the centre cannot hold;

Surely some ruling is at hand.”

Completion of our state budget, solvency of the pension plan, union negotiations, and the welfare of state employees are at stake. Time is running out.

More from the poet Yeats on our predicaments below the fold.

Also caught in this “widening gyre” are the needs to strengthen our infrastructure, improve the economy, provide a safety net for the neediest, aid Atlantic County, and protect our environment. Yo Christie get off your fat ass and start doing your job. Or as Yeats might have said more interestingly:

“A shape with lion body and the head of a man,

A gaze blank and pitiless as the sun,

Is moving its slow thighs, while all about it

Reel shadows of the indignant desert birds.”

Yo legislators and wannabe governors, speak clearly and take action. Or as Yeats said more forthrightly:

“The best lack all conviction, while the worst

are full of passionate intensity.”

Our problems are solvable you guys but time is running out. Otherwise, NJ goes further down the drain. Or as Yeats might have prophesied more elegantly:

“The darkness drops again; but now I know

That years of stony sleep

Were vexed to nightmare by a rocking cradle,

And what rough beast, its hour come round at last,

Slouches towards New Jersey to be born?”

An only slightly modified version of William Butler Yeats’ poem: The Second Coming written during the tumultuous aftermath of World War I.
