We asked for it, we got it – revamped Democratic State Conference begins Thursday

Hi, everyone, from Steven.  For years, many of us have all but BEGGED the New Jersey Democratic State Committee to be more grassroots and pay more heed to progressive values.  In full disclosure, these days I’m one of the state party’s Deputy Vice Chairs, but I swear to you, no one there asked me to trumpet the annual state conference that begins this Thursday, May 14 at Harrah’s in AC and runs through Saturday morning.

If you look at the schedule of events below, you’ll see the caucuses Chairman John Currie brought back are now going full-force, with each Caucus doing a whole lot of work year-round, and at this conference, to involve the grassroots.  And look at the progressive tone of this convention – two progressive events on Thursday night, with Howard Dean the convention’s big speaker.

Folks, our voices have been heard.  As someone on now on the inside at the state committee, I can tell you that everyone there, from Chairman Currie to Vice Chair Lizette Delgado-Polanco to the great staff including ED Chris James and Political Director Jennifer Holdsworth, and all the others, share our vision.

I hope you’ll join us this Thursday.  I’m including the schedule below (my goodness, it’s like a REAL convention, at last!)  To register, visit http://www.njdems.org/annual_d…

I also understand – hint, hint – the State Committee has decided to offer a one-day registration for those of you interested in participating only in Thursday’s events, which include the two progressive caucus events and Howard Dean – see below.  If that option interests you, email Jennifer Holdsworth at Jennifer@njdems.org
