Gita Bajaj

promoted by Rosi

I was very saddened today to learn of the death of Gita Bajaj, who was the press liaison for Assemblyman John McKeon and former Assemblyman Upendra Chivukula.

Gita always wore a smile and worked with me to provide stories for Blue Jersey readers. Her boundless energy and enthusiasm are how I remember her. She will be missed.

A member of my family ran Upendra Chivukula’s congressional campaign in 2012 against CD7 Republican Leonard Lance. Gita was a constant presence there, unofficially lending her boundless enthusiasm and knowledge.

Gita was so warm, so knowledgeable, and so easy to know. In long talks with us about India, she gave us a beautiful photo book of the country she still also counted as hers. And above all I know she felt privileged to support Upendra, who was an uncommonly intelligent, thoughtful and progressive candidate but also the representative of a community of South Asians she cared deeply about.

    We’ll miss her.

In the marbled halls of the State House there wasn’t a friendlier, warmer, more helpful presence than Gita Bajaj. We will miss her.

I worked with Miss Gita Bajaj in Bombay Broadcasting Network in 1985-86 in New York city. As colleagues and co-workers we had a very professional, working and amiable relationship. Gita Bajaj unlike many other co-workers was friendly, polite, courteous and easy to work with. I just happened to know of her passing today and I am very saddened by her passing away. I shall miss her even though we never had any contact after 1986. It is only Miss Gita Bajaj I remember vividly among many others with whom I worked with there in BBN besides the late Pillari Giriraj and Anita Ratnam Raj. That itself speaks volume of Gita’s amiable personality. R.I.P. Miss Gita Bajaj.
