Over the past few weeks Chris Christie has upped his Democratic love fest, taking multiple endorsements from Dems, hanging with Obama at the shore, taking the stage with Bill Clinton. All these actions seem sure to piss off the more rightwing folks of the Republican Party as everyone thinks Christie is setting himself up for a Presidential run in 2016.
Then I saw this on The Dish:
I see no sign that Chris Christie isn’t right to seem to be sitting out 2016 in favor of 2020.
2012 was not a wake-up call. It was a snooze button.
Could Christie be waiting out the wave of insanity on the part of the Tea Party and religious right as the GOP collapse under their weight, believing that in 2020 the GOP will be waiting for a savior the way the Democrats were waiting for Clinton in 1992. Then his history of cross-party love would be seen like Clinton’s Third Way 20-odd years ago, and he’ll swoop to victory over Hillary’s reelection bid.
In 2020 he’ll be 57 or 58, still young enough to go for two terms in the White House.
What do you think of this idea from The Dish?
