Anyone Else Worried?

Hopefully we will get through this next challenge of Hurricane Sandy safely with a minimum amount of problems. But what happens if we are out of power next Tuesday? My thoughts include the election and the impact this will have. Wonder what plans County Clerks and Supts. Of Election are making. Hope I’m just obsessing unnecessarily! Your thoughts?

There isn’t a flashlight or a D battery in all the land. And I’m cranking out laundry at hitherto unknown volumes. By which I’m saying, I won’t start thinking of E-Day emergency contingencies for a few hours. But I’m glad you are. What is the NJ Division of Elections telling you?

… but I would worry about absentee ballots and delayed/ lost mail with ballots in it.  And if the offices are closed Monday, Tuesday and/or Wednesday with how well new voters will get into the registration books, whether machines will be properly cared for, etc., etc., etc.

I’m glad I voted by mail weeks ago.

But, for those planning to vote next Tuesday, I just hope the storm’s impact – scary as it looks now – is not as damaging or lasting as feared. For many people whose lives are turned upside down, voting could end up the last thing on their mind.

In certain key states, when you take into account GOP voter suppression, voter intimidation, and voter fraud, Obama would have to get a large majority – maybe 60% of the votes – to overcome these shenanigans.
