LG/Secretary of State Guadagno refuses to certify Carl Lewis as Senate candidate

Kim Guadagno would say it’s over.

Carl Lewis’ lawyers would say it isn’t.

And so it goes in yet the latest mini-episode in the continuing saga of Carl Lewis, Democrat for Senate, LD-8.

The latest came just a few minutes ago. A memo came down yesterday from Guadagno (wearing her not-at-all-partisan Secretary of State hat), and filed today in court to all 3 county clerks in the eighth legislative district. Her interpretation of an order from a federal appeals court that Lewis should be on the ballot is that order only only applied to the June primary – not the November general.

Lewis’ attorney, William Tambussi called Guadagno’s letter “brazen” and so he’s back looking for backup from the court, asking a federal judge to tell Guadagno to put Lewis on the ballot for November.
