Here’s something that was surely a good exercise but will end in futility.
A coalition of African-American, Asian-American and Latino advocacy organizations have proposed a new map of legislative districts aimed at increasing minority representation in the state Senate and Assembly.
The group this afternoon submitted the map to the 11-member commission charged with redrawing the 40 legislative districts based on Census data.
The only problem with this is that half of the redistricting commission doesn’t want to have more minority representation in the state legislature because, as our good friend Tom Moran noted earlier this week, more minority representation means more Democrats and fewer Republicans.
And the GOP sure as hell ain’t going to let that happen if they can help it.
