There really is a “Jeff Gardner for Senate”

I guess any speculating can stop now. Because, if it’s 4:00 p.m., then I’m probably standing in the Election Law Enforcement Commission offices, filing the paperwork for my campaign committee: “Jeff Gardner for Senate” in what is currently the 35th Legislative District.

Oh sure, there is much that can happen between now and the June primary, what with redistricting, and the lobbying and jockeying for positions, etc. that is bound to follow. But, I wanted to make sure Blue Jersey readers were the first to hear that I’ve opened up a campaign account, and have officially tossed my proverbial hat into the ring for the 2011 Primary.

Thank you to everyone for their advice, support and encouragement. I hope you’ll take this ride with me, and help me be another voice for you in Trenton. Stay tuned! 🙂

Indeed.  Jeff is the definition of a strong progressive leader, which is exactly what this district needs.  I am proud to support Jeff Gardner.  Now it is time to look up all those pledges we made during the marriage equality fight.

    Exciting news.

(Incidentally, just heard that Joe Lieberman is going to announce that he will retire rather than face a primary. All parallels purely in my mind, of course.)

Seriously?  Announcing your campaign without a donation link?

    You’re campaign is doomed!

Jeff, do you need any phone calls made? And organizing of data? Acquisition of data? Collaborative writing/editing?

… I was sitting in the Senate overflow room watching as people like Senator Girgenti cast their votes against the hope of people like me that we might live free of the discrimination we face as gay people. I hoped against hope that true progressives would step up and run in primaries against those incumbent Democrats in relatively safe Democratic seats. So this news gives a lot of people, like me, renewed hope. The sting of a year ago hurts just a little less today.

Looks like you’ve got me for at least 5 hours of volunteer canvassing/calling etc.

It will be a struggle, but you CAN win this Jeff….if we all work together and if/when we/you register another three thousand progressive voters in your district!

I believe in (working for) miracles!!!

I’m proud of you standing up for your beliefs and opting to run.

Even if you don’t win it keeps all electeds honest knowing that they can, and will, be primaried when they refuse to take a stand.

Does this mean that you will be a guest on Blue Jersey Radio rather than a host?

All the best Jeff.  You know that we are all rooting for you and will help out whenever and however we can.
