Blue Jersey Friday Haiku

Students walked out. The Governor admitted property taxes are going up. Budget hearings continued. Immigration and Financial Reform, home rule and offshore drilling all also saw their share of attention and discussion this week. So as usual, we aren’t short on topics to rhyme about as we head into the upcoming weekend.

Rules are simple:

You compose a haiku (5 syllables, then 7, then 5) on the topic the last poster suggests. Then you get to set the next topic.

First Topic: Students walk out

The students walked out

Christie says to get good grades

better than drug mules

Next Topic: Home rule

Another week down and it’s time to rhyme. Plenty of news went down this week just like many of the school budgets. We saw FBI raids in Toms River, testimony in Trenton and celebrated Earth Day. There was a dust up on salaries in the Governor’s office, talk of drug mules and Jon Runyan found a pocket constitution to share with the tea partiers. As you can see, we’re not short on topics.

Rules are simple:

You compose a haiku (5 syllables, then 7, then 5) on the topic the last poster suggests. Then you get to set the next topic.

First Topic: School Budget vote

School budgets go down

Just forty one percent pass

Back to drawing board

Next Topic: FBI raids in Toms River

Blue Jersey Friday Haiku

Who is ready to begin the weekend in rhyming style? It’s been another jam packed week with news coming all day every day, so we have a good deal of material to work with. The Tea Partiers protested paying taxes yesterday, Congressional candidates are releasing their fundraising numbers, the battle between the Governor and the teachers continues as the Legislature looks at his budget plan and much more is going on.

Rules are simple:

You compose a haiku (5 syllables, then 7, then 5) on the topic the last poster suggests. Then you get to set the next topic.

First topic: Mike Huckabee

Huckabee attacks

But Tracey’s ready with tapes

Just makes him look worse

Next topic: Shared Sacrifice

Blue Jersey Friday Haiku

It’s felt like summer in April this week and things heated up over the budget in Trenton with both the Senate and Assembly holding hearings. The fight between the teachers and the Governor also goes on. As people are learning about the Governor’s proposals, they aren’t liking what they hear and his support has fallen. Races for the June primary election are in full swing as well. So we have plenty of material to work with.

Rules are simple:

You compose a haiku (5 syllables, then 7, then 5) on the topic the last poster suggests. Then you get to set the next topic.

First topic: Turnpike Rest Stops

New rest stop slogan

Now entering New Jersey

Make sure you hold it

Next topic: Tax revenues $250 million below projections
